Au Pair TelephoneHome > Au Pair Information > Au Pair Telephone
Using the telephone in England is expensive. Most families will prefer you to make calls during off-peak times (after 6pm and at weekends) which is at a cheaper rate.
Always ask before you use the phone unless you have an arrangement with your family where you can use it at certain times without asking. Better still, buy yourself a Phone Card when you arrive. These can be purchased from most newsagents in various units eg. 2, 5 etc, and can be used in most telephone boxes.
The telephone bill the family receives is itemised, which means they can see what numbers you have called, when you called them, how long the call lasted and how much it cost. Most families will not mind you receiving incoming calls, but please don't ask family or friends to call at busy times, for example, during meal times or when you are putting the children to bed
